About

“Ladybug” was originally started by the western trainer, Jeff Damphouse and competed in the 2020 Tb Makeover, finishing 2nd in Competitive Trail and 3rd in Freestyle. Her freestyle finale performance included a reining patter. After a year of being ridden very seldom, she began full training with OTS in November 2022 to learn yet another new discipline in combined training. Her owner has since made the difficult decision that she and her horse may not be the best match for each other. Ladybug has shown us that she prefers being ridden with less contact, as relative to her previous western training. She is comfortable in English or western tack!

Ladybug hacks out quietly on the buckle, is very brave, and willoing to take on whatever is thrown at her on trails! With her previous training in competitive trail obstacles, and now her miles of hacking and trail riding, she would be a fabulous competitive trail mount, a ranch horse or just a horse to casually ride for pleasure. She’s very independent and is happy to move away from a group of horses or quietly stay behind while a group moves away from her. Ladybug has excellent ground manners and is easy to work with in the barn and she turns out well with others. She would be happy to have 24/7 turnout but also does fine in a stall during the day.

With so many different experiences under her belt, Ladybug could go in many directions, English or Western. She is best suited for an experienced rider and would not be a good match for a timid rider or a beginner. With her owner’s financial limits for training, she is now being offered below value in an effort to open the door to a great home on a lower budget.
