Break The Brules, or “Lilly”, is a home bred who was raised here at Four Ponds Farm and due to a simple lack of having ducks in a row, was started relatively late. She’s had a few short stints at the farm since she first went to the racetrack and she thrives off the track!
Since birth Lilly has been a boss mare but without being mean or overly hormonal. She always wears a happy face and is lovely to have in the barn. She’s sensible, very trainable and as any 3 yr old filly should be, she’s always ready to do something and has that good kind of sass! She turns out well with mares and geldings.
Lilly has had plenty of let down time, being turned out after recovering from surgery to remove “flakes” (tiny chips) from each fetlock with a limitless prognosis for a successful return to racing. With her small stature and lack of results on the track, we took no time deciding to just move her on into a second career.
In any rides that she’s had at the farm she’s shown absolute brilliance in learning news things! She’s been through water, across ditches, up banks… plenty of hacking and also quick to pick up on half halts and moving away from your leg. On the trails she is curious, inquisitive and brave. Relatively unstarted, she’s already fun to ride on the flat because of how smart she is. She is athletic and has a lovely way of going in each gate! She is easy to handle on the ground and stands well on cross ties in the aisle. She has no vices and hauls easily as well.
With only a couple of rides after her last race Lilly is a clean slate and eligible for the 2025 RRP TB Makeover. She would truly be suitable for any discipline but her lovely movement suggests she’d have great success in Eventing or Hunters. Due to her age, level of training and that “good sass” she would not be an ideal first restart or for a timid rider. With time and training she has the potential to be any kind of horse.
